Children can experience a fi rstclass education in the warm and friendly setting that only a small town can provide . The Alpine Independent School District encompasses about 1,925 square miles in Brewster County . School board members are elected from single member districts .
Current enrollment at AISD is 1,072 students , on three campuses : Elementary , Middle School , and High School . The current student demographic mix is : Anglo 28 %; Hispanic 69 %; and Other 3 %. The average student / teacher ratio is approximately 11-to-1 . AISD consistently meets or exceeds Texas Education Agency rating standards . The district prides itself on providing an excellent academic education and extensive extra-curricular options for all students .

Alpine Christian School , founded in 2004 , provides education for Bridge K ( 3-4 year olds ) through the 12th Grade for families in Alpine and throughout the Big Bend region . ACS is fully accredited through the Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools and uses proven , classical education techniques based on a Biblical worldview .

Established in 1989 , Alpine Montessori School serves families from Alpine and the Big Bend region . The primary class offers curriculum for ages 3-6 , and the elementary class offers curriculum for ages 6-9 and 9-12 .

Sul Ross State University offers a combination of small class size , an appreciation of both fi ne arts and the sciences , as well as popular professional programs in a relaxed , friendly environment . As a coeducational , comprehensive , public institution of higher education , SRSU offers certifi cate programs and associate , bachelor ’ s and master ’ s degree programs . The university offers 36 undergraduate programs and 23 graduate programs .
